I am offering a short awareness-raising session regarding Safeguarding Children and Young People, from both a parent and a practitioner perspective. Many of us who are have not trained to work in a professional capacity with children and young people are often not aware of what Safeguarding is and how it affects us.
For as long as I can remember I’ve had an interest in making this world a better place, connecting with nature and sharing with others. My joy is supporting others to grow and evolve, empowering them in becoming who they realise they are, sharing their unique skills and gifts with others for their enjoyment and our communal benefit.
Since qualifying as a professional youth and community worker in 1997 I have worked largely as a practitioner and manager in a local authority, in addition to voluntary organisations. I have actively undertaken academic study of the mind / body connection since 2000 which has complimented my role as a holistic youth and community educator.
Employment in the field has provided me with the opportunity to work with a huge number and variety of individuals, professionals and groups, in all sorts of settings. I am experienced in working in schools, colleges and community settings with young people, family members, teaching professionals, and community groups. I have trained youth and community staff and volunteers, and developed and delivered issue-based projects and interventions, including training, around bullying, sex and relationships, self-confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
I have not stopped studying and sharing knowledge, information and ideas with others and take great pleasure in learning from others and working together for progress.
Today I manage a CIC delivering outcomes for youth and community in conjunction with associates and allied professionals. I also run a private practice where I offer 1:1 and targeted support.
